Could you answer this math question, my fellow math magicians :)?

In the 1986-87 basketball season, the New York Knicks had a bad year and won only 24 games. They improved a lot over the next few years. Six years later, in the 1992-93 season, the Knicks won 150% more games. How many games did the Knicks win in the 1992-93 season ?

  • They have won 60 games in the 1992-93 season. It says 150% more, so 24 + 150%. 1% of 24 is 24, and 50% of 24 is 12. 24 + 12 = 36, 36 + 24 = 60.

  • Knicks won 24 games in 1986-87

In 1992-93, they won 150% more games than what they won in 1986-87

    Number of games Knicks won in 1992-93 = 24 + (150% of 24)

    = 24 + (150/1 * 24)

    = 24 + 36

    = 60.

Hence, Knicks won 60 games in 1992-93

  • If the Knicks won only 24 games and increased 150% six years later the they won 36 games because 24*150%- 24*1.5=36
