Do Americans/ Canadians celebrate Pancake Day?

I met a girl at my school from Florida, America today and she had no idea what Pancake Day was. Do Americans and/or Canadians celebrate it? If u don’t know what it is, then its a day where you eat pancakes. It has something to do with lent, i think. Im british btw.

  • Pancake Day is the nickname for Shrove Tuesday.
Traditionally it was the time leading up to Lent when
people would use up the rich foods, and make pancakes
prior to consuming only plain foods as a way of showing
respect for the Lent period leading up to the commemoration
    of the crucifixion of Christ.

Very few countries continue with this tradition in 2013 and
few (like yourself) know what it is about.

  • British too and wondered the same thing.. I think they just tend to eat them on a regular basis for breakfast and stuff whereas they are more of a treat thing or on an occasion rather than all the time

  • No, we prefer Waffles.
