Do longboard wheels make a difference?

My longboard is a Northern Pine Longboard. It rolls, but not far. You have to push say every 10-15 feet. All of my friends longboards just keep rolling. They almost never stop. My wheels are pretty old and soft. Would new wheels make a difference? Also any suggestions? (I dont do tricks, i just ride)

  • It actually depends on your wheel bearings, your bearings is what gives you the speed and distance, but yeah harder wheels will actually help a little bit, so get new bearings, I recommend ABEC 7’s because they’re not too expensive and they last a long time and they are good for speed and speed will help you roll farther

  • Im going to disagree with everybody here. bearings do NOT make a difference(unless they are dirty)

So clean your bearings, and see if that changes anything. Often times cheap wheels are made with mid quality/low rebound urethane which is slower than higher quality wheels. So if cleaning your bearings doesnt work, try new wheels.

  • Bearings are the biggest issue but they are pretty cheap. Bigger wheels make for less revolutions needed for the same distance so if you are just cruising buy some big like 75mm wheels(http://www.the-house.com/skwgcbgs75c12zz-goldcoast…

Here’s some really good bearings as well. If you are already doing wheels you should probably do bearings as well and vice versa. http://www.the-house.com/skbloj6p12zz-loaded-longb…

  • I agree with Ethan that it is not your wheels that are causing you to have to push more but it’s you bearings. ABEC 7’s would be perfect.
