Do MLB players who don't support the troops still have to wear the camouflage uniforms for Memorial Day?

Take for instance they are pacifists and they don’t believe in war for religious or philosophical reasons. Do they still have to wear the uniforms (the Memorial Day camouflage uniforms) that are meant for supporting the troops who fight our wars.

  • Yes, they do. Then when you look up the meaning of Memorial Day, you’ll learn it’s not meant for supporting the troops who fight our wars.

Memorial Day is not to be confused with Veterans Day; Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving, while Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans.

  • Yes they do have to wear the uniforms as per Major League rules. Major League rules dictate that each team member must wear the same uniform as the rest of the team. If the team wanted to send their players out on the field wearing skirts, then that is what they all wear. If they don’t like it, then they can risk getting fined and/or suspended by the league or their team.

There may be some players who don’t support the troops or are against the military for personal, political and religious reasons. As much as they don’t like camo green, they like receiving US greenbacks and would be unhappy if they get less of it because they don’t like the uniforms their teams are making them play in.

  • Supporting the troops does not necessarily mean supporting war……

Those who “don’t believe” in war are seriously misguided. I’m not saying they don’t have a right to believe in whatever, but it’s still misguided.

To answer your question, I do not believe a player would be allowed to wear a different uniform as the others. I think if he didn’t want to wear them, he would have to choose not to play at all, and in that case, he would probably be subject to a fine or disciplinary action. The team is simply his employer; they choose the uniforms.

  • Yes. According to MLB rules, they must wear the same uniform as the rest of the team even if they don’t believe in war. If they choose not to wear the same uniform, they cannot participate in that game.
