Do you think my six year old kid is smarter than I am?

We were walking in the Union Square Market in Manhattan over the weekend and he was acting really silly, jumping up and down and making faces. I got a little tired of his shenanigans and told him that he should stop because people will think he’s retarded. He said: “No they won’t! They’ll just think you’re a bad parent!”

WHAT? How did he come up with that? Is somebody here coaching him? I don’t think I like this… I smell trouble ahead…

  • I didn’t have to read the blurb to know the answer to this questions.

But I did. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree does it?

Welcome to the quick-on-his-feet Manhattan kid

The kids where I am now have the intelligence of a slightly retarded sea slug

  • You shouldn’t tell him that because it’s insulting anyone who is retarted and telling him it’s fine to call people that even when they’re not, which he can get into big trouble for later in life. You should have said stop. then if he didn’t you should have taken him somewhere and talked to him and told him you need to stop, i know you’re excited but calm down. if that didn’t work then maybe go home/to hotel room or something. Sorry, but you didn’t do it right and therefore he had the right to do that and he was trying to get your attention. It WILL get worse if you don’t start paying more attention to him and offer him love, care and affection 24.9/7

  • Kids are very smart. They are smarter than we all think. He is going to be one who knows how to get into people’s heads to figure them out. My brother who is now 17 has been like that his whole life. He analyzes everyone. He knows just what to say to make my mom so mad without really doing anything. Good luck

  • Ahh… clever little one you’ve got there my Schmecky. I am not a parent yet, so I don’t really have any useful advice for you, except that you need to keep in the child’s good books so that when he takes over the world, you will get the big bedroom.

  • What you should have said to him was this; ‘no they won’t…they’ll just think you’re enjoying yourself and having fun’. Once you say ‘retarded’ to a child…of course they’re going to reply with a smart mouth comeback. Put your self in your son’s shoes … what would you say…

  • what’s unhappy is which you condone such habit. the youngster is basically parroting his verify’s opinion. Do you definitely believe that a six twelve months previous can form evaluations approximately unemployment? if so, it incredibly is even sadder.

You’re doing a fine job, Sir.

  • Scuzzy: Actually I saw an apple fall from a tree once and roll all the way down a hill. (Granted, my slingshot did part of the work.) You just never know.
