  • No, that is rediculous. When you are that “protective” kids will rebel. You shouldn’t stifle a child like that.

  • Your child is going to be exposed to much worse things on a daily basis. The best thing you can do is teach them about the meaning of such words and the other reasons that people might use them. When the say something that you consider inappropriate, instead of punishing them, ask them about what they were feeling that caused them to say that and discuss other ways that they could express themselves. Sheltering will only cause them to cut off communication with you not stop them from acting that way. Keep it open and hopefully they will stay open with you.
