  • Dyslexia does not affect a persons IQ levels, people dyslexia have normal IQ level in fact many have above average IQ levles. Dyslexia is a neurological disorder and something a person is born with, and is hereditary, however some people have no known family history.Dyslexia can affect all aspects of a persons learning, reading, writing, spelling, maths, memory, sequencing skills, omitting words and difficulty pronouncing words, especially unfamiliar words, and confusion between left & right and difficulty reading maps, reversal of letters, p, q, b, d, m, w, and some numbers, transposing of words such as was to saw, including comprehension of what they have read or heard (spoken language).Or a person may have one area of difficulty, maths (dyscalculia) and handwriting & spelling (dysgraphia). Both my daughter and I are dyslexic, and our IQ levels are above average.Source(s):

  • Neither dyslexia or any other similar conditions effect your intelligence and it shouldn’t effect your going to college, it is important to find out if you really do have dyslexia though. Because if you do then you will be able to get extra help if you need it and it is also just a good thing to know.
