I added a little sta-bil to my 2 stroke gas, and now my weed eater is quieter and seems to have less power.

Your weed eater probably has some varnish from the gasoline. Stabil stabilizes the fuel but doesn’t prevent it from degrading, it just slows it down. It’s still best to run your gas powered tools dry before storage.
