  • Most employers will require new drivers to at least have graduated from a CDL trainign school before you are eligible for employment.

You have 4 possible options as I see it:

    1. Find a small local outfit that will hire you with now experience (this will most likely be pretty tough)
    2. Find a attend a private CDL training school and pay for it out of pocket
    3. Find a company with sponsored CDL training – like CRST, or Schneider. They will pay for your license as long as you agree to work for them for a set period of time
    4. Buy your own truck and operate as an owner operator. However – the chances of succes for a new driver starting as an owner operator are slim as insurance, gas, truck payments, and other costs are extremely high.

If you attend CDL school, they will also help you get your first job – they work directly with companies that hire inexperienced drivers.

  • The only way to get an entry level truck driving job now days is to go to school. This is because of insurance reasons. In fact in some state you need to. You might try a moving company. I would avoid any company paid CDL training as it is a scam. If you go to school for that assume that you know nothing. A know it all learns nothing.
