Finding Motivation in School?

I am soon going into grade 11 and becoming worried that my motivation will not be there to get good marks. I am a competitive athlete and I absolutely love it, its always been so easy to stay motivated and reach for my goals. School is another story, I have a low 80 average but I find it hard to stay motivated and put minimal effort into my work most of the time. I believe that once I find my passion it will be easier to stay motivated in school but I am not sure what to do until then. Any advice?

  • Try to see how everything you are studying is related to everything else that you are studying. Look for the similarities in the concepts. When I was in high school, I could see how the math related to the English related to the French related to the history. There were underlying similarities, and it made the learning fascinating. Also, extend your competitiveness to your academic subjects. Set goals for yourself the way you would in sports and then try to better your own results.
