Good deal on honda 400ex?

Hi everyone, i hope you can help. I found a 20 Honda 4ex for sale for $8 but the only thing that needs to be replaced is the piston rings, other than the the body and all is in good shape. Good deal?

  • You know it’s rings only. How?? Cause some one told you? You have ex-ray vision? Well excellent condition is 12-15. So sure. You may have a money pit or parts bike.

  • Nobody can tell you it only needs piston rings and not a rebore, oversized piston and rings plus associated gaskets and other parts as needed unless the motor had been stripped down. If the rings were all it needed then anyone worth listening to would have fitted the new rings then and there.

    Common sense tells me the motor is an oil burner and/or low on compression and the seller doesn’t have a clue what the fault is so he is claiming it to be “just worn rings” because it is the cheapest job to restore compression/stop oil burning. Beware….
