got two baby rex mice dumped on me.. IDEAS?

so basically I run a rat rescue.. some idiot thought that mice and rats are the same thing.. anyways they said they would kill them if I didn’t take these two X four week old rex white mice! they brought them in a cage and said they would not be able to get out… WELL THEY GOT OUT! I found one and I cannot locate the other so im a bit worried as I have three cats and can’t keep them locked in a room (they have been locked up for three days so far), the one I have found is really agressive it has bitten me and drawn blood! I put it in an old ice cream tub and lined it with tissues and such.. It also keeps tipping over its bowl so I have decided not to put that in as it does not drink it it just pushes it over! it survived a week in the house so im guessing its not a tame one? (but then again I no nothing about pet mice), any suggestions on what to do and how long it can survive without water.. I don’t want to dehydrate it but clearly it does not want the water!

  • Use a water bottle instead of a bowl and to get the mice maybe get a bucket and a ramp going up to up and a bit of wood balancing on the ramp and bucket and put some food at the end of it and maybe it will get hungry and go for it and fall in the bucket. Make sure to make the landing safe. Hope I’ve helped.

P.s. a mouse can survive about a week without water and maybe more although it is very unhealthy for them.

  • Yes I would do what the other person said to do, the bucket thing. Put bedding under it though. It would be nicer for the mice to have a bigger home, does the tub have air holes? Use a water bottle instead, the mouse will drink when it wants to. If your planning on keeping the mice buy proper housing for them and buy some food specially for pet mice. They can use the same bedding and toys as rats, the care isn’t much different but it would be good to research things about mice such as common diseases, basic care, housing and so on. The mouse is most likely very scared if it feels the need to bite,as that is its way of protecting itself. This person that dumped the mice with you must of not treated them well. I don’t know anything about taming mice really, but how different can it be to taming a hamster? Just leave it alone for a few days with the exception of feeding it then after a while you can feed it bits of food and treats. When its gotten used to you put food on your hand do it will climb on and take it. Put the mouse in a playpen or an empty bath tub with a blanket down and let it run around with you sitting in there.

I don’t know if you are planning on keeping it or taming it, I know I didn’t really answer your question but just in case..theres some info:) sorry if i wasted your time.
