Great 1990’s vehicles?

I am looking to buy a vehicle and was wondering if anyone knows of any with the options I am looking for.

The reason I want a vehicle from the 90’s is because I want on that is still made out of metal on the outside and not just the frame like today’s vehicles. I was looking at the 1991 Geo Metro XFI, but I read that there are no air bags and that it isn’t all that safe. Though I like how it looks.
I’m not really looking for a car or truck, but more of how the Geo Metro looks, like a corss over..? Or how the 1986 Jeep Grand Wagoneer looks. Though I hear jeeps are top heavy and roll easiler, I prefer a safe vehicle.
Thank you!

  • A made of metal on the outside instead of aluminum is actually not as safe like you might be thinking. The aluminum absorbs the force of a collision while a big heavy metal car would transfer the force over the entire car, and to it’s passengers.
It’s one of the reasons they use carbon fiber in race cars, besides that it is lighter, it also absorbs collisions even better than aluminum can.

I don’t really have any recommendations on cars like those, because none of them are going to be safe. You could get a modern little car and it would still b safer than a bigger car from back then.

  • CArs in the 80s were pretty bad. I had an 86 Dodge Colt; it got around 40 MPG on the highway and was very reliable. But I wouldn’t want to wreck one. Small cars today have double if not triple the horsepower, and are considerably safer. You aren’t going to find anything from the 80s or 90s that comes close to the level of safety built into today’s cars.
