The wrestling i’d say is pretty neutral. GSP’s wrestling is among the best, but as a reminder he never wrestled before going into MMA. Johnny Hendricks has been wrestling his entire life and is an NCAA division 1 wrestler.
Striking: It comes down to Technique (GSP) vs Power (Johnny Hendricks). If GSP can keep a good distance and utilize the jab and kicks, while avoiding a big shot by big rig than the advantge will go to GSP, However, if Big Rig lands one of those power punches on GSP, he’s going to be in a lot of trouble, as GSP doesn’t have the strongest chin (flashback to Serra, Condit… ect). GSP’s smart enough not to get into a slugfest as he proved against Diaz. but i’d be worried if Johnny lands any big shots.
BJJ: Idk what that guy was talking about, but GSP is a BJJ blackbelt. Johnny Hendricks has only won one fight by submission and that was a long time ago. Not saying GSP’s going to easily tap him out because Johnny’s wrestling is effective enough to avoid submissions. I’d still say it’s pretty even.
In the end, there is a possibility of Hendricks getting a TKO i’d say 3rd or 4th round, but what’s most likely going to happen is if GSP plays it smart, outstrikes Hendricks, avoids those big shots, maybe gets a few takedowns in there he’s going to win it by decision.
Well Wrestling wise: Both guys are very good wrestlers, GSP has one of the best Takedowns in MMA and is unstoppable, 44% of his moves are takedowns and he gets most of them, Johnny Hendricks though has been an NCAA National Wrestling Champion while also placing top 4 in the previus years and is an All-American…but his takedown defense isn’t as great as GSP’s. This one is a toss up but I’d hand it to George.
Striking Wise: Johnny Hendricks is heavy handed and has knocked big dudes out in the past and whenever someone falls form one of his punches he viciously uses his G n P and if George falls…Johnny isn’t just going to lay and hold like GSP does but he’s going to try and finish it. GSP’s striking is more accurate but I’m giving it to Hendricks.
BJJ: Honestly this one is a toss up their BJJ hasn’t truly being seen that match
Result: It’ll go the distance if GSP Plays it right, but if Hendricks goes hard it’ll end by TKO 3rd round. I’m giving it to GSP though.
Well al Mma fans know that GSP is not going to stand and strike with a heavy handed striker such as johnny. I know Hendrix has great wrestling but GSP always seems to dominate good wrestlers some how. So I look for him to take him down and dry hump out a victory with the occasional elbow to the fave while he’s on top. I hate to say it but GSP will likely do this for 5 rounds. Yeah he’s the best in the division and near the top in P4P rankings. But he so boring to watch especially when he’s fighting some one with great power and good striking abilities. So I’m calling it a victory for GSP via decision. But if grows a pair and stand with him or for some reason can’t take johnny down like he does most wrestlers I see Hendricks taking the victory by TKO or possibly ko. There’s a slim chance if he can’t take him down much that johnny could get a split decision victory, but that’s only if he can defend the take down– SPRAWL JOHNNY SPAWL- please ko Georges please
