  • All round observation, including mirrors, take it slowly. Pull forward to correct position if necessary. Leave a bit of space behind to open the boot to load shopping
It is safer to reverse into a parking space and pull out forwards.
  • Hey I plowed snow around cars in parking lots for nearly seven years and I still have problems. Try the trick in a very open area at the far end of a lot. But at the edge of a lot that way you can just circle around again or go in circles in reverse which is fun but maybe not recommended by the lot owners.
Most importantly sit back in the seat with your head all the way back up against the head rest. This is a fixed spot that orientates “You to the Car” the idea is just that you sit straight in the seat and turn your head this way or that way for the mirrors but actually it’s just a concept.
The helpful thing is if your not sure where you car is too sit straight in the seat and angle the mirrors down a bit on both sides too where you can see the sides or rear fender and the pavement. This way you can see for sure if in doubt.
The turn thing is a trick. But practicing at the end of the lot ought to lot quicker than just when the need arises. Also think of the turning the steering wheel in 1/4″ degrees as your turning it. Oh well I use the lower left outside of the palm or lower part of the thumb to turn when parking. And also this video shows why it used to be so easy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWx4VetE0…

  • I find it best not to reverse into a supermarket parking bay as it makes loading stuff difficult. Generally speaking reverse parking is something that improves with practice. Sometimes I get it right, sometimes wrong, and I have been driving for over 40 years.

  • Drive forward into the bay – reverse out. That means you are reversing into the much larger space – and it is also a lot easier to get your shopping into the boot.

  • instead of reversing into the bay just drive forwards into it
