HOW CAN I BECOME A PRO BOXER !?

I just turned 15 and i have wanted to do boxing for a very long time and i have finally made my parents come around to let me box. I know i need to put in alot off dedication and train very hard.

I have a home gym which has weight machines , treadmill , heavy bag etc ..

I have found a few boxing gyms around my area. I have been told to call them up and book a tour and see which trainers and club has the best environment etc.

As i have Just started should i try and get straight into a gym where very good boxers train or should i start at a lower level club and get a few amateur bouts and build up ? I know you need a good amateur career to turn pro.

I am 5’5 and 110LB.

Im also getting a speed bag and a floor to ceiling bag at home too.

Any Information about nutrition or what i should do to get a very good career would be very appreciated. Thank you.

  • Hi, I’m in pretty much the same position as you, right down to the age and height but only about 30lbs heavier (Muscles, NOT a little bit chubby of course XD). However I don’t have a home gym and I’ve already settled down in a club and am about to start amateur boxing training after joining 4 months ago.. You have basically the right idea, y’know start from amateur bouts and stuff, but from there on, once you become good enough you’ll have to get yourself a manager and a “reputation” if you will, and then there’s all this application stuff apparently (Sorry for being unclear about it :P) – Maybe you could enter during the next olympics and take home a medal? If you put in enough effort and dedication to your training then when you reach the age to turn professional you could be as skilled and experienced as boxers who started off younger, the training at home will definitely help you get to that level 🙂 Of course, a good diet is needed. You will need a lot of carbohydrates (eg pasta, beans) proteins (eg meat, fish, eggs) and water. Also high-energy would be useful as long as you stay away from high-sugar (like sweets and fizzy drinks) or calories. And stay away from saturated fats! You will have to have more meals per day in preparation for a fight or during training, even though this sounds like it will make you gain weight but if your training hard enough then they’ll be burnt instead of stored

    Hope I helped a bit 😀
