Well i really want to help people that have this disease called osteosarcoma. Its a type of bone cancer that is mostly diagnosed to teenagers. I was wondering, how i can help people with osteosarcoma? Im only 15 but i still really want to help everyone with this horrible disease. Should i make a group or somehow start a charity? if you can, help me answer this. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

  • Find an established charity and volunteer. You cannot start your own charity or your own organization; you are still a child. Find the organization (perhaps thru your local hospital or Cancer Center) and help them with fund raising project.

    Kudos for wanting to help.

  • Don’t start another charity. There are already lots of little charities supporting the same cause struggling to get donations.

If you want to help people with Osteosarcoma volunteer with your local Cancer Society. Contact your local cancer treatment center, General hospital, rehabilitation centre, or Prosthetics and Orthotics department and ask about volunteering.

You can participate or host a Terry Fox run with your friends. You could start a group to encourage people to get involved with your local cancer related organization and raise awareness of bone cancer. If you know someone undergoing treatment for Osteosarcoma you could cook offer to baby sit younger siblings, take care of pets, bring in homework etc.

  • Why don’t you contact your local hospital and become a volunteer. Assuming you have a children’s hospital nearby, or a hospital unit that cares for pediatric hematology/oncology patients…you should have no problem. Sick kids love having volunteers their own age to talk to and hang out with.
