How could bringing a kitten into my home work? with my adult female cat.?

I have a female 7 year old cat. Who’s never been an outside cat nor socialized with any other cat whatsoever in her life. She’s pretty calm and always the scared one if anything.. I never knew how she would react around another cat. Until recently ..where she totally flipped out on another cat who came up to the back deck door. I never saw her like that. So lately my son has been asking me for a kitten and I have to say I get tempted but then stop myself when thinking about integrating her withh the new one. i would hate for her to attack a little one! Shes quite big. . Is there a possibility she might be different and sensitive towards a little kitten? ? Take him in? I definitely believe she obviously reacted like that because it was an adult male invading her territory.. but would the integration process work? Any advice from the catty psychologists out there ia greatly appreciated!

  • I think you could choose a young male kitten. Later this year you can find a ten or twelve week one at a shelter.

Cat society is matriarchal so a male will not be as much a challenge for her as another female. The Chinese pictograms for trouble is two females under one roof!
