There were many theories about Bruce Lee’s death, including murder involving the triads and a supposed curse on him and his family. Black Belt magazine in carried the speculation that the death of Bruce Lee in may have been caused by “a delayed reaction to a Dim Mak strike he received several weeks prior to his collapse”.
On May , Lee collapsed in Golden Harvest studios in Hong Kong while doing dubbing work for the movie ‘Enter the Dragon’. Suffering from seizures and headaches, he was immediately rushed to Hong Kong Baptist Hospital where doctors diagnosed cerebral edema. They were able to reduce the swelling through the administration of mannitol. These same symptoms that occurred in his first collapse were later repeated on the day of his death.
Lee had complained of a headache and was given an analgesic, which contained both aspirin and the muscle relaxant meprobamate on July . Lee laid down for a nap and missed a dinner appointment. He was discovered by producer Raymond Chow, who summoned Lee’s personal physician. The Dr. spent over minutes attempting to revive him before sending him by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Lee was dead by the time he reached the hospital, at age .
The preliminary opinion of Dr. Peter Wu, the neurosurgeon who treated Lee during his first seizure in May , was that the cause of death may have been attributed to either a reaction to cannabis or Equagesic. However, Wu also stated “..a dosage of cannabis is neither precise nor predictable, but I’ve never known of anyone dying simply from taking it.”
Official autopsy report reveals that there was no visible external injury but his brain had swollen considerably. The only substance found during the autopsy was Equagesic. Some speculated that Lee died from an allergic reaction to the muscle relaxant (meprobamate) in Equagesic, which is a common ingredient in painkillers.
The forensic scientist, Dr. Teare, who was assigned to the Lee case, concluded “death by misadventure” caused by an acute cerebral edema due to a reaction to compounds present in the combination medication Equagesic.
Many believe the original (official) explanation/cause of death is wrong. Drug reactions tend to involve an anaphylactic reaction in which the victim’s neck swells. Some think Lee died of a condition called ‘sudden unexpected death in epilepsy’ (SUDEP), which was only recognised in .
The condition involves a seizure which stops the heart or lungs. It kills around people each year in the UK, is most common in men aged – and can be brought on by lack of sleep and stress. “Lee was under a great deal of physical and mental distress at the time,” stated by Dr. Filkins, head of the medical examiner team investigating the cause of Bruce Lee’s death.

-he was ordered by the chinese community to stop teaching martial arts to whites and blacks, he had to fight Wong Jack Man, bruce won. people believed the chinese was very unhappy about that..
-theres a move in martial arts called the “death touch” where you hit a person on a certain part of the head and it attacks the pressure points and meridians, u can die a day or two later.
