I’m african american but people always think I’m trying to act white because I speak proper, make good grades, and I’m not loud. I have no problem with being this way but I’m so tired of people saying I speak like a white girl or I act to proper to be black. Yesterday my cousins neighbor kept asking me when I was going to stop talking like a white girl and I don’t act like an african american girl am I sure I’m african americn. How do I act more ghetto.

Honestly, I would recommend that you don’t worry about what they say. I have gone through the same issues myself growing up and speaking properly. This is no different from the whole jock v nerds situation. Now that I’m in college, I can say without a doubt that there is a major difference in treatment.
The more culturally neutral and versatile you are, the more people are able to relate with you. When you graduate and go on looking for a job or to network, you will find that people will easily accept you because you are not what they call “that kind of black”.
BUT IF YOU STILL WANT TO BE GHETTO:
Watch some really black shows (NOT Fresh Prince of Bel Aire) like the Martin Lawrence show and practice by yourself to master the dialect. Also, watching stand up comedy will help. Some comedians who speak really ghetto are Katt Williams, Martin Lawrence, Cedric the Entertainer, and Steve Harvey.
