I can’t play mpeg- files in windows media player. I know I have to download a codec to do it but what do I need and where do i get if from? or where can i get a file convertor?

You can download the K-Lite codec Pack. Install it and you’re are good to go.

The both this packs can play MPEG-. Choose any one.
Like Mat if it does not PLAY IN VLC don’t even try finding a codec

somewhere on there u will find a codec pack u can download.
make sure u dont download a vista pack if ure on xp and visa versa

VLC media player or quicktime will be appropriate
download the any vieo converter. or VLC player, it can play more video format.
not sure but i know that VLC media player plays ANYTHING 🙂 and its free
