  • The cam sprocket has a small circular hole near where it should be placed at top dead center. Sometimes it requires a bit of balancing and patience because the valve springs will be fighting the proper placement of the sprocket at TDC; this could cause a slip of the sprocket and misalignment of the cam.

    My cam sprocket for some reason had two “markers” and was very confusing. Luckily the G10 3-cylinder is a non-interference engine and I was able to quickly shut off the engine and find the problem. Timing alignment is covered in the factory service manual, page 6A1-16
