How fast is homeschooling?

I am a freshman in Arizona, I need 22-24 credits(depending on the diploma,in my school district(including extra electives which i shouldn’t have to do)) to graduate. I am a higher thinking student but i just don’t like having to go to school every day and sit through boring lessons, I waste on average 3 hours a day sleeping in classes just because i finish the content i am given. I have self taught myself a large portion of science, and don’t think it would be to difficult to finish 4 years in about 2 years of time out of school. however, do my parents have to take a test saying their qualified to teach me (however i would teach myself most of the time) or do they just have to request it? I don’t like homework or adhering to my teachers dead lines as i can do it myself without waiting for the lesson the next day to continue(turning a 2 week lesson into 2-3 days). I usually score about an 85-100% on the Arizona instrument to measure standards test. Is there a followed course plan(do i have to learn a specific thing each week) or is it all just on my own preference as long as a complete a scheduled test.

  • No, your parents don’t have to take any sort of a test. The only thing that matters is that they’re your parent, no more qualification than that.

Your parents don’t “request” homeschooling; they tell your local school superintendent that this (homeschooling you) is what is happenning.

To start homeschooling in AZ, your parent just has to submit a notarized affadavit of their intention to homeschool to your County School Superintendent within 30 days of your starting to homeschool. They should keep a copy of the affadavit for their own records just in case of any hassle from anyone.

    The affidavit should include:
    your name,
    your date of birth,
    your current address
and the name, telephone and address of your parent or legal guardian

No, there’s no required course plan in AZ. You need to do reading, grammar, maths, science and social studies BUT you get to decide what you’d prefer to study under each of those subject headings. And it’s astonishing what you can make fit each of those subject headings with just a teeny bit of imagination and some “out the box” thinking!

No, AZ homeschoolers are not required to take any sort of standard testing.

  • No parent qualifications, and don’t request. Just do. You don’t have to seek permission from anyone, least of all the school.

  • How fast depends on you.

My daughter Elsa (7) is already studying at an 8th grade level in reading and 4th in math. She is also studying 8th grade Geology.

So, again, it depends on you ( if God is with you in your efforts, than, all else is solely on you.)

  • If you are after an accredited high school diploma, then you need a school accredited by one of these associations:

Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools
New England Association of Schools and Colleges
North Central Association of Colleges and Schools
Northwest Accreditation Commission or Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities
Western Association of Schools and Colleges
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools

If you are looking for an all in one package sort of deal, one of the cheapest, regionally accredited high schools is American School. https://www.americanschoolofcorr.com/ This school is accredited by North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
