  • It is bad to exploit other people. It’s bad to take part in taking a child away from a perfectly good mother just because you couldn’t have your own children. It’s bad to blame victims and it’s bad to help create victims in society.

ETA: @ Jessa/Cala: I don’t care what you are tired of. Get over yourself. And please cite the source that says there are 3k children waiting for adoption in LA. Do you ever pause to think that many children who could be adopted aren’t because they are deemed ‘too old’ by desperate, paying couples? And have you ever heard of a healthy white newborn up for adoption not getting placed? I don’t think so. Your silly arguments are so full of holes it’s ridiculous. Moving on….

  • Do you mean how is it bad to adopt children?

I am basing my answer on the belief that is what you mean. If people are adopting from foster care then there is nothing bad with that.

What is bad is telling expectant mother regardless of whether she is considering adoption or not

    – she is being mature to surrender

    – she is making a wise decision

    – she knows she is too young

    – too poor

    – she will be on welfare if she raises her child

    – it’s the selfless, loving option

    – she loves her her child so much that it’s the right decision

    – accuse people who suggest parenting is the best option of being bullies / coercive yet think telling someone to surrender for the above reasons is acceptable

  • Adoption isn’t bad when it means giving a good home to a child who needs one. Adoption is only bad when it involves corruption and coercion.

  • Google the baby-scoop era and find out how many children were taken in corrupt and coerced adoptions from perfectly loving mothers/parents/extended families. Also read about this extended church family from Tennessee who imported a lot of children from Liberia to basically re-enact slavery in their own homes, only to kick them out and reject them when they chafed against the unreasonable rules and grueling living conditions. “Christian charity” at its finest. I think all these “parents” should be in prison.

  • @Yolanda, I am really tired of this mindset that adoption consists of ripping children out of perfectly happy homes in order to give them to someone else- that is NOT how it works most of the time. There are over 30,0 children up for adoption in the Los Angeles area alone right now- why do you think this is? Because their parents were doing such a great job? There are many, many people giving birth every day who are utterly unfit to parent.

To answer the question, there is nothing wrong with giving a good home to a child who needs one. It is the best thing anyone can ever do.

  • Yolanda doesn’t appear to know what adoption is! Babies aren’t taken away from good parents, and adopted children aren’t victims. What a warped view!
