To be a psychologist, you need a PhD. Generally, it takes 8-10 years. That works out to 4 years for your bachelor’s degree, 2 years for a master’s degree, and an additional 2 years for the PhD. You can pull those timelines in by going during the summers or extend them out by taking less than 15 credits a semester.
You can become a counselor with a master’s degree, which is about 6 years.
