How long should you allow a picture to stay on the screen in a banquet presentation?

I am making a band banquet presentation covering the entire band season. I’m not sure how long each picture should stay on the screen: 3 second? 4 seconds? What is best? I don’t want them up there too long or too short.

If you can control the time manually, that would probably work best. If you have a photo up on the screen that has only a few people in it, it won’t take long for people to find themselves or friends in the photo. If you have a photo with a band formation on a football field, it will take a bit longer for people to find and point their location out to family or friends. Say a minimum of 5 seconds up to 15 or 20 seconds. ( depending on the time you’re allotted for the show.
