How to fix a hole in the wall? points?

REMEMBER THE WALL IS TEXTURED Hello I accidentally punched a palm sized hole in the wall and if I had known it would have broken that easily I wouldn’t have ever done it and the wall is textured I don’t know what type of wall it is but I can see along the edges on the hole in the wall that there is like a cardboard type of material and I looked online and the answers all refer to buying a patch kit but I don’t know what type of wall material that is but it didn’t take that much force to break and there isn’t actually a hole like the part of the wall that is broken is still attached and hanging so how do I fix this? Thanks! and I really regret making a hole in the wall before any of you go judging me I just wasn’t thinking straight and I’m suffering the consequences for that right now.

  • good learning experience. if size of average sized palm will need drywall mud, drywall tape, a putty knife and a small sanding sponge or block all should be available at a local hardware store. first use thin layer of mud around hole and then cut strips of tape over hole. then apply thin layer of mud over tape, after letting dry over night sand and repeat process until hole is gone. depending on texture of wall will need small brush or broom on final coat. good luck
