How to flush an inboard motor on a boat.?

I have a nautique coastal edition boat. It has a closed water cooling system. there is a spot on the boat where you screw the hose onto it. Then I’m pretty sure you have to close the intake valve. My problem is how to I know if it is closed or not? One way says off and the other says on. which one is close and which one is open?

  • Valves……..when the handle is at a right angle to the center-line of the valve, the valve is closed. if it is in-line with the flow it’s open. It’s as simple as that.

  • On normally means open. Try it – if no water goes through turn it the other way.
    There also need to be a way for the water to get out that needs to be opened too.
    Your apparent lack of knowledge worries me – I advise getting someone who knows a bit to help you. You dont want to end up with a partially empty water jacket.
