  • Your best bet is to contact them right away and explain your situation. They would rather work with your then have to spend time and money to seek collections, or take a big loss by selling your debts to a third party.

    My wife had the same problem 2 years ago. She was without work for 9 months, but her credit card companies accepted her payments of the interest only until she found work. They got their money so it made them happy. She had to pay more, but her credit report showed paid as agreed. No harm in trying.

  • Check with a lawyer if the credit companies have not enticed you into taking on credit way over your means. If that is the case, you may be able to take them to court and sue them for misleading you or something like it.
