  • Your best bet may be to train as a personal care assistant. If you take the training, then you can be your father’s official caregiver and the government will pay you to take care of him. (Assuming your father is officially on disability and is entitled to home care.)

There are some hoops to jump through, but it may be the best solution for your family.

One caveat, though… Personal care aides are NOT paid well. If you have other skills, you may find it more profitable to get a different job and pay someone else to care for your father.

    Good luck!

  • You are capable of working. Also, your child’s father is legally obligated to pay child support. You have NO access to any assistance since you are an adult perfectly capable of taking care of yourself and your child.

Your father could hire a properly trained caretaker. Your father might or might not be eligible for some assistance under his disability if he hires a qualified, trained, and unrelated third party for home health care assistance.
