I have a 1gb Dell Optiplex gx520 and want a graphics card ,which one should I get?

My son wants to play his Orcs must die game and I need a graphics card which will fit into the above computer . Thanks

  • There are three versions of the Dell Optiplex GX520. In order to give you an accurate response, we’ll need to know which version you have.

    In this link, scroll down to page 2. The three models of the GX520 are from left to right, the Mini Tower, the Desktop and the Small Form Factor (SFF).

    Unfortunately it appears that only the mini tower is capable of sufficient upgrades. The Desktop model only has a PCI slot and a PCI-X slot (not to be confused with PCI Express) and a power supply upgrade necessary to power the system and a graphics card is limited to 280W. A PCI graphics card is a possible solution for the Desktop model, however, for Orcs Must Die, it’s recommended that the system has a dual core processor. From the specs I’ve seen, that system has, at best, a single core Pentium 4, possibly hyper-threaded, but still a far cry from an actual dual core processor.
