I have a1996 Suzuki Intruder 800. clean carbs,new plugs, and filters. Still hard accel.?

I had the carbs cleaned out, new plugs put in, and getting new front and rear air filters put in on Tuesday. I took old ones out and it still is not accelerating quickly, Any ideas?

  • Fuzzies on it today so your turn to learn it all now. Check the tank for crap old petrol or fuzzed up fuel lines. If ya need a manual for it try www.carlsalter.co.uk or .com free bee down loads on most makes n models.
  • did you get the float levels rest while the carbs were off?
    Check tappet clearance
    Do a compression check on the bike
    Check timing
    Run bike in the dark & check for tracking on the plug leads – also check for fat blue spark at plugs.
    Check choker comes fully off
    Check both carbs open equally.
    With engine cold , start it & monitor how long it takes both headers to heat up, first at idle. Cool down & do it again at part throttle – careful they’ll heat up very quickly so check well down the pipes (same distance on both of course) This will tell you if both cylinders are working equally
