I’m throwing a Great Gatsby themed party with a few classmates and my English teacher for our English classes and I’m in charge of doing food and music. So far I have a few different playlists set up to swap throughout the night. I want it all to try and tie in with the 1920’s/Jazz Age theme of the party, but I’m not opposed to putting a modern twist on it.
Dancing Music (Modern) – Some of the more dance-friendly songs from The Great Gatsby soundtrack (Bang Bang, A Little Party Never Killed Nobody, etc.), Christina Aguilera from her Back To Basics Album (Ain’t No Other Man, Candyman), some Amy Winehouse (Rehab, Tears Dry On Their Own), Duffy (Mercy), and some Caravan Palace.
Dancing Music (Old) – Charleston and that’s about it. This is what I need the most help on. I’m having no luck finding any legitimately older music that is very danceable. And I’m not saying it needs to have bass or beats or anything, but just something bouncy that doesn’t make you just want to sit there.
Chilling Music – A lot of Billie Holliday, Django Reinhardt, Ella Fitzgerald, and other different songs that will make good background music while people chat and just hang out/swim/etc.
ANY suggestions would be helpful as soon as you could. Just keep in mind that these are high school students so they’ll want a little more modern music to move to. I think I’m stretching it by having Christina Aguilera on it to be quite honest.
Food-wise, I’m just preparing cupcakes, and we’ll have plastic champagne glasses with ginger-ale and sparkling cider, deviled eggs, chocolate fountain, and other little treats. Like I said, it’s not A HUGE PARTY more then an elaborate get together.
Any suggestions, tips, help would be MONUMENTALLY APPRECIATED.

What about using the soundtrack from the movie that came out this year? (I haven’t listened to it, but it’s practically a ready made Gatsby playlist)
