My boyfriend and I started dating in December and he is going to be 40 in June. I would love to throw him a surpise party but the problem is, I still haven’t met his family. We have a commited relationship and do not keep the fact that we’re together a secret yet the opportunity to meet his family still has not arisen.

To handle the family part of it, just skip the part about the party being a surprise. He’s a grown man and he knows it’s a big birthday. Just be open about it. That way if you haven’t met the family by then you can simply invite them. What a great circumstance for meeting!
