Is my insurance company allowed to increase my monthly bill?

I am 22 years old, and I just purchased a 2013 Honda civic about 2 months ago. The car is in my name but I am on my parent’s insurance policy. Originally, I was being charged $110 a month for full coverage (clean driving record & great discount). But just a few days ago it was raised to $125 a month. Are they allowed to do that? I haven’t gotten any tickets or been in any accidents. I know I should call to find out but first I just want to know if they are even allowed to do that. Also my insurance company is 21st century. Thank you!!

  • Not only are they allowed, but they told the policy holder WHY they were raising the rates.

Since you aren’t the policy holder, they probably won’t give you any information at all.

  • Those SOB’s can drop you or raise your rates anytime. They’ll say they have to due to too many bogus claims. It’s all a joke.I wanted to get a mobile paper route to supplement our income and my carrier said I can’t because they don’t cover that. They’re supposed to work for us.Find another company

  • Yes they can. Insurance cost is based on risk. If you have gotten a new vehicle or your first vehicle, then your risk factors have gone up and your premium cost reflects that
