Is there somewhere other than campgrounds where I can sleep in my pop up camper on roadtrips?

  • You can ask a farmer if he’ll let you camp on his grounds but he would usually charge a fee. Public lands have been free for limited stays but that’s changing because of people who are disrespectful, litter and don’t sign the Bureau of Land Management office’s guest book for the privilege of camping on public lands, their funding comes from the number of visitors who sign the guest book.

    On Canadian Crown Lands, residents can camp for up to 21 days for free but foreign nationals must purchase a permit.

  • I heard some Walmarts will let people camp overnight in their parking lots. {no guarantees.}

  • For safe overnight camping use a real campground such as at a lake or national forest. You can get a list of campgrounds, fees and amenities by checking the National Parks web site, most states have them too, in a variety of interesting locations.
