Just built my first PC, few questions?

I just pieced together my first gaming rig, and I had a few questions- if it a quick screen flashed and then I get into the bios is the computer all working and good? Is there anything I should check in the bios? And the computer was emitting warm air, almost hot just from idling on the bios screen- should I be concerned/ what should I do? Thanks!

Specs: Fx 63 CPU, 2gb Sapphire HD 7850 OC, MSI 970 a G46 motherboard, 8 GB G-Skill Ripjaw 16 Ram, Thermaltake 650w Smart PSU, and a Coolermaster Elite 431 case

Windows 7 should be coming in tomorrow, if you have any tips or suggestions say them, thanks!

  • If you observed that it is a bit hot even when you are just at the bios setup then you could check your cpu cooler if it is properly attached to your mobo ( i assume that you have already placed an ample amount of thermal paste).

BTW, for better airflow, try maximizing the number of possible case fans that can be attched to your chassis and choose fans that has high airflow (CFM) with acceptable noise levels. You can also get an aftermarket cooler for better taming of the temps of your FX63 like the hyper212 plus:

COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus RR-B10-212P-G1 “Heatpipe Direct Contact” Long Life Sleeve 120mm CPU Cooler Compatible with Intel 1366/1155/775 and AMD FM1/FM2/AM3+ – $30 ($20 after rebate)

And don’t worry, the hyper212 plus would fit in your casing, here’s proof to that:

“Cooler Master states that it will hold large tower coolers such as their own V8 and Hyper 212+, so space is certainly no issue here. You can see the hole the case has to access the back of the motherboard for easy heatsink removal or changes.”

Your CM elite 431 has almost the same size as the 430, being the 431 just a bit bigger.

  • I guess you are using the cooler that came with your AMD processor. Make sure the cooler is locked properly to the motherboard. And even make sure the cooler wires are properly connected to the motherboard.

Make sure you get your hard disk formatted to NTFS and make 2 partitions at least. Keep one partition around 40% of the harddisk. Install Windows in that 40% partition. And the use the other partition for your games and files. That is the best way to keep things organized.

  • Nothing wrong just that the pc has no operating system to run it, when u get it just install it and u should be good oh and all computers emit warm air even the best computers money could buy
