Laying down pad for laminate flooring?

Hello, this is my first time laying laminate flooring, and my friend is going to help a few days for now, but in the mean time I am laying down the padding that goes over the concrete slab. The first sheet I layed down perfectly, but the second and third sheet has small “ruffles” in them, like air pockets that I cannot get rid of. Kinda like when you lay a sheet down on your bed and it has those uneven areas that you use your hand to straighten out, like that. I am having a hard time getting rid of them, so can I just leave it and laying laminate over it will be just fine? Thanks.

  • yes. join the sheets with a suitable tape since the pad is also your moisture barrier. since you will lay rows from one side of the room to the other, the air pockets will be pushed out. i layed one width of pad, then the wood, then the next pad, and joined the seam with the tape. then continued.

  • As far as a few bended spots that are doubled over,I would not worry about it too much. You can always take a board and lay over it and see if you can feel through it.Highly doubt you will.

Being a cement floor, try taping one end to the floor or baseboard and pulling the other to get the wrinkles out and then tape it.

  • If the pad folds over when you lay the floor, you will see or feel it later. Use tape and pull the wrinkles out.
