  • Show me one case in 40 years of pride parades where that has ever happened.

  • There’s actually quite a bit of security in place. Particularly in the form of on, or off, duty police officers in uniform, plainclothes officers, along with canines and the security measures taken by the local businesses.

Even if I assume something as readibly concealable as a tactical assault rifle, there’s a limit to the amount of ammuniton a single person could carry without attracting attention. If someone slipped a gun and ammunition past the officers and the dogs, they’d still need to gain access to the roof of a building to maximize damage. Otherwise, they’d be limited to shooting those in the packed proximity of the crowd, which would limit them to a few a few shots before the mob trampled them.

That makes the odds for survival very good, and the odds for the shooter to accomplish much of their goal very slim, if you ask me.

I think there were about 30,0 at last year’s even. Even a suicide bomber would only take a small number in the immediate vicinity to face afterlife with them. Again, the odds are very much in favor of survival.

The clubs are working security pretty hard, they’re not going to let anyone on the roof. the dogs are going to go bonkers if they even smell gun blast residue on you, (trust me, don’t go to a parade directly from the gun range,) and more than likely a suicide bomber isn’t going to make it in; he might blow up an entry point, but that’s about it.

I’d call it as safe as going to any large event.

  • Even the worst fundamentalist wouldn’t attempt to do something that stupid. Anyway, pride marches have come a LOOOOONG way since they were first done many years ago. Occasionally you have some yobbo who tries to be violent but that quickly gets taken care of.

As for someone with a machine gun it sounds like you’ve been watching too many movies…

  • And we could all be struck by lightning during the next storm. Or fall downstairs next time we use them. Or choke to death on a hot chip.

If we spent our lives worrying about what might happen we’d be reclusive nervous wrecks. The whole point of Pride parades to to face up to haters and bigots, right?

Maybe it is because PRIDE PARADES are gross?

    Yes, gross and frightening.

    How so frightening?

These parades remind be of a night in the French Quarter at 3 am and i was dead sober … people about me in the streets smiling laughing debauching (I like getting drunk don’t get me wrong!) but all that I could sense or feel was an untow of ANGER.

it was the laughter of a clown … ala John Gacy.

    i hope this helps

  • I went to a minimum of one in London whilst i grow to be 15. i grow to be in basic terms out to my buddies at this point so it grow to be quite a huge step and that i think of I did it greater to instruct some thing to myself than the rest. I enjoyed it (even nonetheless it pissed down with rain!) and enjoyed seeing families and a brilliant style of in the present day couples starting to be a member of in and waving. in recent times i’m in 2 minds. On one area it does make me happy to declare gay men and girls out in the universal public eye able to be who they’re and rejoice LGBT way of existence. on the different hand i ask your self if there is any genuine political component any further or whether it truly is basically grow to be like a private contributors club. additionally i think of the final subjects and varieties of gay satisfaction are frequently somewhat stereotypical. Rainbows and glitter are all very eye-beautiful and crowd-friendly even nonetheless it does not truly deliver residing house the message that gay men and girls are area of the community at super, they’re your buddies, relatives, workmates no longer in basic terms brightly colored cliches. in spite of this I truly have a chip on my shoulder, you will nevertheless have a brilliant time! 🙂
