Macbook Pro Slow Transferring?

Please help.

I recently experienced ultra slow operation with my 2013 Macbook Pro. It started running at a snails pace for just about every function – after review of many boards, and asking a question myself, the general consensus was that my HDD was on it’s way out prematurely. Since i was already interested in swapping for an SSD, i figured i would just go ahead and take care of everything in one swoop.

Used Carbon Cloner, cloned my HDD, transferred to SSD, installed SSD, and everything is running 1 times better…..EXCEPT…Transfer times.

My transfer times remain slower than they were when the original HDD was running at full tilt. My understanding was that my already fast transfer times both to external connected disks, as well as NAS disks would be that much faster running an SSD. That is NOT the case.

WIth my original HDD, running 16gb of RAM, i could transfer 1.77GB in just under 3 minutes. Now, with my SSD running 16gb RAM, my transfer times are still at close to 10 minutes. As a control, i used my mac mini, also running 16GB or RAM with standard HDD, and my transfer time for 1.77 GB was just under 3 minutes.

What can be causing this still? Clearly, this has to be somewhat software related. Hoping all the Mac guru’s can come together here and assist. I’ve spent a lot of cash on this thing to work at peak performance, and i’m just not seeing it.

All other functions are running well, my restart times are 15-20 seconds, my programs load quickly.

Thank you in advance.

Update:

Yes, i mean copying files from internal drive to external drive. With an SSD, my copy times are slower than they were with a standard HD. Today, i installed a new SSD into my wifes older macbook pro. Her processor is slower, and she has 8gb ram vs my faster processor and 16gb of ram. Both of us have the same samsung series 840 SSD. I was able to copy 6gb in 2 minutes using hers, and 2gb in 7 minutes using mine. Something just isn’t right…
