  • Make a list of all of the parts you will need then following the picture put it together.
    Pipe cutter
    Pipe threader
    Pipe
    Pipe Tees
    Pipe junction connectors
    Pipe couplers
Pipe reducers used at the top of each vertical pipe to reduce down one pipe size then a cap attached for decoration.
Pipe joint compound for joining the pipes together
    Pump
Hole cutter for making holes in the cans.
    Rocks
    Motor/pump
    Power Breaker box
    Timer
Filter Material to protect the pump from leaves etc.
Check valves for control of water flow direction.

You also don’t want the pump to force dirty water back into the house water lines so filling of the tank will have to be the same as filling a bath tub……and air gap between the two. If you were to put water plants in the tub and have it filled almost to the top with water then you would only have to add water once a month. I wouldn’t attach it to the sides like they did as you would be adding holes that could leak. I would form an X or + out of pipe at the end of each section that is in the tub and then use big rocks to hold it in place. Smaller rocks could be used to hide the pump. Add some filter material on top of those followed by more small rocks and you end up with nice clean water going through the pump. Fish could even live in it as the water would be air rated and filtered….

A lot of weight is up in the air so the tank has to be heavy enough that it doesn’t tip over.

  • you’ll need a pump that will lift water to the highest watering can height.( read on the package label for ‘lift’ )…look at a waterfall pump……. and that’s a big one….. sit it in the tub… run the tubing up thru the pipes to the top water can and have it attached to the pipe by a hole in the side so that the tubing is thru the side from out of the pipe… seal it well with clear silicone adhesive caulking…. let dry in the right angle for the water to flow into the next can down…. set up all the cans so the flows are into each can ….. it will take some fiddle-ing…. when you have it right, make sure the cans won’t move again!!…. you’ll need to set up the pipes somewhere that you can attach them to a solid support , as well…. fill the tub with water, plug in your pump and enjoy your water feature!!…. a bit of light would be nice at night on this!!….

  • Any water feature is never as easy as it looks.
For a start you need more than 1 watering can, you also need a frame to mount them on, you also need a pump capable of pumping the correct amount of water to the height of the watering can.
