Mom needs a cordless hand-held vacuum to solve her pet hair woes. Any advice greatly appreciated.?

Looking for a unit that will hold a decent charge and has the power to remove the pet hair from furniture. Ease of use will be a big plus. Thanks to all in advance for your input!
Open Question

  • Ditch the vacuum and use an adhesive lint roller it will get 100% of the hair off the furniture. vacuums are needless cause the smaller ones have less power cause they are cordless and dont extract most of the hair cause the hair may stick more to the furniture depending on the fabric. its more work with the roller but much more effective and cleaning the vacuum with all the hair can be difficult at times

  • Cordless vacuums lack the power to do much. Unfortunately, battery technology has not kept up with things and these units just do not have much suction. They’re fine for gathering up a few crumbs or loose dirt but not much else.

Many of the new sweepers have “turbo” attachments that fit on the end of the hose to use on upholstery and such. Now, they do work pretty well! The air flow coming in (caused by the suction) makes the brushes in the attachment spin and these lift the hair off and the suction carries it away. Perhaps make a lot of her cleaning easier and just get her a sweeper that has that feature along with better dirt filtration and suction?

I have a Bissell Healthy Home and really like it. It’s bag less, has advanced dirt filtration and HEPA filtering. 5 year warranty, lifetime belt, lots of tools that are easy to use. We have a house full of pets and it does great with the pet hair. If you watch, you can get the unit on sale for around $200. The hose is actually long enough that I can sweep my entire flight of steps without having to play the dangerous balance the sweeper on the steps while trying to sweep them. And it has the “turbo” brush!

Another hint; take a clean spray bottle, fill with warm water and add a couple tablespoons of liquid fabric softener. Put the cap on and shake. Then lightly mist the areas with the pet hair and walk away for a good 10-15 minutes. The fabric softener breaks the static lock on the hair making it easier to sweep up. But don’t soak the area, very lightly mist.
