So I have a desktop PC with Vista on it. There is a netbook I want to buy that comes with Windows on it. But I want to install Ubuntu on the netbook. I want to keep my desktop with a Windows OS on it, and the netbook with Ubuntu on it. Is there a way to move the Windows OS onto my desktop? (overwriting Vista)

Not legally with the OEM license of Windows (the one that comes preinstalled on computers). Those licenses are restricted to the single computer- Microsoft knows that that license goes with that computer and you aren’t allowed to move it. On a normal license, that you go buy into the store, the license goes with you and you’re allowed to move it.
