My computer may have a virus?

So tonight I got on my laptop and I decided to update my Avast free antivirus and install some windows updates. After I did that, my computer can no longer display webpages. All my browsers say “The connection was interrupted” and I’ve deleted cookies cache everything. And I’ve tried to delete Avast but it won’t let me an when I try to scan my laptop for viruses it freezes up so I have to manually turn it off. What should I do?

  • Try booting up in safe mode with networking and running Avast.

If you do not know then follow these instructions:

    1. Restart Computer
    2. Press F8 repeatedly
    3. Use arrow keys and go to Safe Mode With Networking
    4. Run avast

  • You can try windows key R then type MRT. However, many viruses know that is there so it won’t run.

You can try Windows Defender offline. On a good computer, download it and make a bootable USB stick or CD. When you run it, it runs a thorough version of Windows Malware Removal tool. What makes it good is that the infected OS is not running so viruses on it can’t hide.

  • I have personally never had a problem with avast. I suggest transferring Malwarebytes from a thumb drive (flash drive) to your pc then scan it.~ :33
