My landlady gave me notice to leave?

My landlady gave me notice to vacate the house I was renting. I was led to believe thhat she wanted to move in to the property herself. I have since discovered that she wanted me out so that she could rent it out to someone else for more money. Is this legal?

  • As long as:

    – You not still in a fixed term.

    – Correct paperwork has been issued.

  • NOT enough info to answer

    Did you have written lease?

Were you a month to month tenant?

    Was lease over?

Reason you are given notice is irrelevant

What matters is whether she had right to give you notice and move you out

  • It depends.

Go register yourself with the council as (technically) homeless, take along your tenancy agreement and any other relevant documentation. They won’t want you on their homeless list thus they’ll likely tell you whether what she’s done is legitimate or not.

And/or see someone at the Citizens Advice Bureau.

    Good luck!

  • Perfectly legal, but if you left without a court order, then you left of your own free will.

  • yes legal.

if u got a lease she can’t get u out until lease finished.

if u month to month , u gone in a month.
