Question about some dairy farm equipment?

I have some dairy farm equipment to sell but I have no clue how much to ask. It all is in good condition.
I have a pipe line and a bulk tank that is like to sell.
Can anyone tell me how much I should be asking?

Also, I have a semen tank. I have all of the names and id numbers. Most of the bulls were born between 1965-1985. I got all if the names from landmark genetic books. But does anyone have a website were I can get an idea of how much these bulls are worth?

Thanks

  • If it’s in good condition, the semen tank should be worth 50% the price of a new one. I haven’t checked lately, so you might google Nasco and find out. As for the semen, I don’t know if it has any value or not. 25-50 year old genetics is like buying a car with 25-50 year old technology.

The actual pipeline itself probably isn’t worth much at all other than maybe for the appurtenances (gages, stainless fittings, etc). The value of the bulk tank is going to depend upon its size and condition. If the compressor is shot or all of the gas has leaked out, the value is really going to drop.

The value of all of the stuff is going to depend upon if dairying is still active in your area. If not, the price will have to be low or the equipment very desirable to make it worthwhile for someone to drive several hundred miles to buy it. Keep in mind that something is only as valuable as someone is willing to pay for it. For example, a large dairy will not be interested in a small bulk tank no matter how good condition it is in.
