Said i was an 'acquaintance', not a 'friend'. What does she mean?

I had an argument with my ‘best friend’ (lets call her T) and now we hate each other. My best friend’s friend(lets call her H), was friends with both of us and now after the fight she hates me, too.

Me and T and H and my best friend (lets call her E) we were all best friends and after the argument we split and E is friends with all 3 of us but H doesn’t like me so much.

One of my friends asked H if she was friends with me but she replied saying ‘Only an acquaintance’ what does she mean???

  • This sounds like an Algebra problem “Solve the quadradic equations and find the values of T, H, and E.”.. lol… ANYWAY, complexity aside, when someone says you are “only and acquaintance”, it means they consider you just as someone they know a bit… someone they are “acquainted” with.. like someone they have seen a few times and maybe said hello to in the hallway, but not much beyond that.

Sounds to me like you could use a few more REAL friends. Real friends never turn on you and will never diss you or act like they don’t know you better than someone you meet in the hallway every now ant then.

  • Perhaps it’s because you phrase things like Algebra equations, and she doesn’t have a mathematical mind. I’m totally perplexed by your question too, but I don’t know you enough to dislike you.

  • It means that she does not have any intentions of talking to you regularly and that u are not a friend just someone she is forced to be around

  • Hi zenia. An acquaintance is basically someone who you know but they don’t class you as their friend. She only thinks of you as someone she knows but don’t really like (as you already know)
