Sam Langford vs Manny Pacquiao?

Welterweight

12 rounds

I say Langford.

Update:

@Stone, yes, but Pacman can be wore down, Langford got aggressive round by round and used his infamous Left-Hook to finish it, this guy could KO heavyweights at lightweight.

And remember, theirs a 6 inch reach advantage to Sam here. Pacquiao is an inside fighter, when he gets inside, he’d get hit. He can’t escape it.

  • If Langford boxed smart as he sometimes did, circled around Manny and jabbed, trying to get Pacquiao to come to him he may be in with a shot of winning.

But I think that Manny would be too quick for him, remember how different these fighters are, there’s nearly 1yrs seperating them so styles obviously differ. Slow on his feet and coming forward Langford would get constantly tagged with Pacquiao flurries and unless he sneaked in a decent left which might wobble or drop Pacquiao I think he’s in for a long night.

    UD12 Pacquiao

Too quick for the flat footed stalker.

  • Great question sir, and also a great answer by Stone, but I have to disagree with him.

Sam Langford fought from Lightweight to Heavyweight! He fought guys like Stanley Ketchel, Joe Gans, Jack Johnson, etc. Manny Pacquiao certainly has great power and speed, but he isn’t a really big Welterweight. Langford is flat footed, but he did have a reach advantage, and Pacquiao would have a hard time getting inside, and if he does, he’s getting hit. Since there aren’t very much videos on him, they don’t know that he had very underrated counterpunching skills! And remember Juan Manuel Marquez gave Manny two tough fights because of his counterpunching. Manny Pacquiao will put up a fight, but get knocked out.

    Langford KO5.
