  • Get the older model.

Source(s): The groove rule for proffesionals won’t effect you.

  • If you must play titleist, play older models. Pros play them because they are free.

  • you’re paying for the name with Titleist…. don’t go by what the pros play, go by what works. Check out scorgolf.com or eidolon wedges. in fact, i believe there’s a guarantee that if you don’t think they’re the best wedges you’ve ever played, they’ll buy you your wedges from the manufacturer (in this case Titleist)

    Source(s): 24 years of golf. 4 handicap.

  • If you plan on playing in USGA, PGA, or R&A sponsored events, the newer ones with the conforming grooves are what you’d need. Other than that, it doesn’t matter.

As Golf n’ Pix said, you’re paying for the name. I’ve had just as much success with my Inazone Shadow CNC wedges (from Diamond Tour Golf) as I have with my Nike SV’s, Callaway Forged+, Cleveland CG10/12/588’s, Taylormade RAC/RAC TP’s and Adams Watson wedges. Get what appeals to you, that’s within your budget. Get them fitted- and make sure the loft spacing and bounce angles work for you.
