Should i keep my position at running back or change it?

I play high school football. I’ve been playing runningback for 2 years and Im about to hit my 3rd. I’m gonna be playin in JV. I weight 189 pounds and I’m 5’11. Last year I had a total of 6 touchdowns and 650 yards or 7. Should I stay at running back or should I change to another position? The head coach said that he would try me at fullback but I told him I won’t be good there cuz I’ve never played full back. I told him I wanna stay at runningback. So should I stay at runningback or change my position to something else for JV.

  • Stay at the RB position.. That’s were you are the most experienced.. Good luck….

  • That’s big for a running back (thats not bad tho). Fullback would seem like a good fit. I wouldn’t worry about changing positions for JV, its not that hard to convert.

If fullback doesn’t look fun to you tho or you love RB, stick with it and tell that to your coach.

  • Personally, I believe that you can benefit from making a position change. Based on your height and weight, I believe that the best fit for you is at fullback. You have the ideal size for a high school junior fullback, playing on the junior varsity football team.

My best advice for you is to work hard and perform very well in practice every day. In addition, what you need to do this (and every) summer is eat healthy, exercise by doing weight lifting, and either jogging or going for a long run every day. If you do these things, you will get faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of becoming a successful, top notch fullback in high school football, who could go on to play college football.

By the way, your chances of playing college football depend on your performance in football during your junior, and especially senior, year of high school. If you perform very well in football during your final 2 years of high school, you will greatly improve your chances of getting recruited to play for a college football program in the future.
